The latest edition of Ubuntu, 8.04 ‘Hardy Heron’ has just hit the shelves. Having run the last beta of this a work-supplied laptop for the last month or so, I can comfortably report it has come a long way — if there is a competitor to Novell’s SLED, this is it.
This is the eighth desktop release of Ubuntu. Ubuntu’s track record in delivering – on a precise schedule every six months – a commercial operating system that is free, stable, secure and fully supported, remains unique.
