In a wonderful example of being unable to see the wood for all the trees (ahem) a reviewer forgets to note that unless the original footage is recorded in high-definition, it won’t specifically look any better on BluRay than it [originally] did on DVD.

Perhaps your mission should be to understand the nature (and limits) of the technology first, before crashing headlong into the forest.
